A 2000 graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary, the Rev. Rachel Winter is the Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Auburn, Alabama and Presbyterian Campus Minister at the University.
The only PC(USA) congregation in Auburn, First Presbyterian has provided for the Campus Ministry in conjunction with Alabama Presbyterian Campus Ministry. A student center for this thriving campus ministry is a part of the First Presbyterian Church campus, which is adjacent to Auburn University. In addition to regular lunchtime and evening programs, Auburn students are involved in every area of the life of the congregation: teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, playing hand bells, serving on committees.
The campus ministry is actively involved in mission, participating in two work trips to Ocean Springs, Mississippi and planning an exchange with the Oaxaca Presbytery in Mexico, part of a partnership with the Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley.
Rachel finds working with college students satisfying as they are in the midst of a unique time in their lives, learning and questioning so much of what they are experiencing. It is “fun to be a witness to their process and a part of that,” she says.
