Supported by the Bonner Foundation, the Chaplain's Ministry at Rhodes College launches a new semester of a servant leadership school, offering courses for spiritual formation in the context of service and social justice. In servant leadership, students make a commitment to holistic ministry through study, prayer, community reflection, service and social justice. The two courses for Spring '02 are "Liberation from Within" and "Call: Listening to the Voice of Vocation."

Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary recently received the Business/Family Partnership Award and was listed among 33 employers in the Gold Medal category for providing a family friendly work environment for its employees. The award, presented at an annual luncheon, recognizes companies in Louisville and Jefferson County that create a more productive workplace and stronger families, and that place a high priority on the balance between work and family life. A total of 150 companies received gold, silver or bronze designations this year. In addition, Louisville Seminary was named one of the top 25 most family friendly employers in Louisville and Jefferson County by Business First magazine.

Dent C. Davis has been named director of continuing education at Columbia Theological Seminary. He will join the faculty in mid-April. Davis leaves Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he has been associate pastor for six years. At Sequoyah Hills, his work focused on educational ministry, program planning and development, teaching, pastoral care, and international missions.

Pikeville College in Pikeville, KY had a special two-day celebration on January 21 and 22 honoring the life and work of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Special music and speakers Bishop Nathaniel Collins of Wando, S.C., and head football coach Zak Willis were featured. In conjunction with the Kentucky Historical Society, Pikeville College will be hosting a traveling exhibit that examines the events and personalities of the civil rights movement from 1955 to Dr. King's assassination in 1968. The exhibit will be on display on the first floor of the Allara Library on campus through February.

Centre College in Danville, KY invites all students, alumni, parents and the community to nourish their minds as well as their bodies during its "Food for Thought" series of six discussions led by Centre College professors during lunch in the Carnegie Club, January through March, on every other Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. . . . In January, 20 Centre students traveled to England for a three and a half week trip to visit a dozen towns and experience British theatre. Highlight of the journey was a trip to Middle Temple Hall on January 30 for a 400th anniversary production of Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," performed on the same stage where it was presented in 1601-02.
