AGAPE MISSION FELLOWSHIP
IS BORN IN CHATTANOOGA
On Sunday afternoon, September
22, at 4:00 P.M., the
Presbytery of East Tennessee
ordained and installed Felix A.
Burrows, Jr. as pastor of Agape
Mission Fellowship, a new church
development for the Westside of
Chattanooga, TN. This was a
milestone in the making of the
Agape Mission Fellowship.
In attendance at the ordination
and installation were representatives
from many of the churches
of the East Tennessee Presbytery
as well as representatives from
the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta.
The occasion was indeed an ecumenical
and interfaith affair as
people from the local community
and others from as far away as
Seattle, Washington, Indianapolis,
Indiana, and Chicago, Illinois
participated.
The taskforce of Agape Mission Fellowship and
Westside community residents along with Second Presbyterian (Chattanooga)
members members served in both the ordination services as well as in
the reception afterwards. During the reception, guests were treated
with a vignette from The Herndons: The Opera by the Americolor
Opera Alliance — an African American Opera company located in
Atlanta. This group also sang a medley of spirituals during the services.
This beginning fellowship has
been aptly named Agape Mission
— love mission — as the love of
Christ Jesus is at the center of this
ministry. Founding members
have pledged to be available for
reaching out into their mission
field with love 24/7/365. Pastor
Felix says, “We will love our
brothers and sisters, we will share
in the good times, we will support
each other in the bad times,
and we will stand in the hope of
a Risen Christ 24 hours a day, 7
days a week, and 365 days of the
year — 24/7/365.”

Pastor Felix Burrows greets an old friend.
