Wide Open Doors
by Dee Wade
- Open before all comers
- In honor of him who said
-
- They welcome pilgrims of Truth,
- The posers of great questions
- the half faithful,
- the full fearful,
- Pre- and, yes, post-believers,
- Joining inward journeyers
- with justice types,
- and sickbed friends
- With community builders,
- Jumbled, tumbled, together
- ye that labor,
- heavy laden,
- Bring each personality
- Bring each gift of the Spirit
- each tongue of fire
- each flash of flesh
- Bring white, black, yellow and red
- Geek, Barbie, and athlete
- lovers young, old
- where- whom-ever
- Come rich, come poor, tall and short
- Those ambling and those who move
- on rolling stock
- or canine led,
- And I will refresh your soul,
- Folk divvied every which way;
- all may enter
- except for these:
- Everyone Christ doesn’t love.
- Everyone God didn’t make.
-
- Has family and a home,
- So through these wide open doors
-
- For my yoke is easy
- and my burden is light.
