Bellewood Building Named
for Martha Farr Haynes
The school and administration
building, at Bellewood’s Bowling Green campus, has been named for
Martha Farr Haynes, a Bowling Green resident and community leader.
The dedication ceremony was at noon on September
4, 2003 at the Bellewood Center on the northwest side of Bowling Green.
The Board of Directors voted to name the building
for Martha in recognition of her selfless service to Bellewood.
According to Jerry Cantrell, Bellewood’s Executive
Director, Martha has been, and is, a true friend with a dedication and
passion for Bellewood’s mission to serve abused and at risk children.
“Since 1992 Martha has invested a vast amount
of time advocating for our mission in her church and community,”
Cantrell said. “Martha’s dedication has resulted in many friends
for Bellewood and she is certainly worthy of the honor.”
Bellewood is conducting a fundraising campaign for
the building. Naming opportunities for offices within the school and administration
facility are available. The campaign received more than $50,000 in gifts
and pledges. Recently, The Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green pledged
$5,000.
Martha joined the Bellewood family in 1992 as a
volunteer board member and served in various capacities, including that
of the Board President.
Apart from her valuable service to Bellewood, Martha
is an involved member of The Presbyterian Church, Bowling Green. She is
serving her third term as elder. She is a regular participant in Presbyterian
Women and chaired the Fruitful Years Group (a ministry to seniors). Martha
has also served as Moderator of Western Kentucky Presbytery and is in
her sixth year as a commissioner to the Synod of Living Waters, chairing
the Living Waters for the World committee.
