Those reporters (a.k.a. shepherds) who delivered The News had no idea of what an upheaval their story would set off; after all, there were no wire services, no television, no instant analysts on the scene.

And farther away, even such a leader as one Herod did not recognize the happening for what it was.

With such a beginning no one would have supposed that he would say what he said or do what he did in a lifetime so short as his. But then who could expect them to recognize that his story would outlast and outshine them all.
