Construction Underway For Clean Water Uby Steve Young On January 6, 2004, large trucks began making the one mile journey deep into the woods of Hopewell Camp and Conference Center to begin site preparation for the Water Training Building of Clean Water U, the highly anticipated training facility of Living Waters for the World. Clean Water U will enable church mission groups and others interested in providing clean water to the world to learn the fundamentals of building and implementing water purification partnerships, based on the organization’s decade of field-tested experience. Graduates will be fully equipped to install the water purification system and lead Health & Hygiene education with their partners in need.
At this writing, the concrete footings and floor slab have been poured and walls and roof will soon follow. Plumbing to bring water from Hopewell’s Lake Andrew to the building’s holding tanks will then be installed in anticipation of the inaugural session of the school on March 17-21, 2004. “It is truly amazing to see how the Holy Spirit has moved throughout this process,” says Rev. Wil Howie, coordinator of Living Waters for the World. “The first school is almost completely full, with participants coming from near and far - a church group from Haverhill, Massachusetts, for example, will take what they learn here, and install a system in South Africa this summer.” Living Waters for the World plans to conduct three additional sessions of Clean Water U in Fall 2004, with continued growth anticipated in the coming years.
