Synod’s Congregational Development Conference
Is November 4-6 In Nashville
T he Synod Partnership
for Congregational Development will be holding it’s biannual conference
for church redevelopment and new church development from Thursday, November
4 through Sunday, November 6 at First Presbyterian Church in Nashville,
TN. The keynote speakers will be Alex Thornburg and Ted Foote, co-authors
of Being
Presbyterian in the Bible Belt (2000) and Being
Disciples of Jesus in a Dot.Com World (2003). Worship will be
provided by Carol Tate, who, before being called as a pastor, had a career
as a musician. Carol has been liturgist and seminar leader at Montreat
Music and Worship Conferences and at the Reclaiming the Text Conference.
There will also be seven workshops from which to
choose: Dealing Effectively with Conflict; Postmodernism and the Church;
Using PERCEPT and Vision 2000 for Community Mission Planning; Redevelopment,
New Church Development: a model for success; Models of New Church Development,
Who, What, Why and When; Developing Hispanic Ministries; and Energizing
Congregations—Planning for Growth. Workshop choices must be marked
on the registration forms.
Cost for the conference is $50. Registration
forms are available through your presbytery office or can be downloaded
from the synod web site.
