Synod to Meet in Huntsville

They will elect a new moderator, Elder Ruth Collins, an English teacher from South Alabama Presbytery. Current moderator Don Padget will become moderator of the Synod Executive Committee.

They will welcome a delegation from the Synod of the Peninsula, including three officers of that Synod, Edwin Tun Canto, president; Amos Cahuich, secretary; and Agur Mendicuti, treasurer. (See story ___ this issue).
They will be presented with a proposed budget and other recommendations from the Synod Executive Committee and will adopt a budget for 2005.
They will hear reports from the Synod’s Presbytery Partnership Committee, the Communications Committee and the Living Waters for the World Committee.
They will hear a report from the Synod Nominating Committee, chaired by Chris Jones of Birmingham, and will elect officers for 2005. Tom Pickering, a minister commissioner from Western Kentucky Presbytery, will be nominated to be vice moderator.
There will be displays from Presbyterian colleges and seminaries and other church related institutions located within the Synod.
Registration will begin at Fellowship Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 24. Opening worship begins at 1:00 p.m. The meeting is scheduled for adjournment at 11:30 on Tuesday, January 25. For information, contact Emily Dunbar in the Synod office, 615/261-4008.
