Presbytery Calls Executive
An installation
service for the Rev. Dr. Tom Evans is scheduled for August 18, 2005 at
Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa, AL. The selection of
Evans as new Presbytery Executive for Sheppards and Lapsley was confirmed
at a called meeting of the presbytery on July 21 at Independent Presbyterian
Church in Birmingham.

Rev. Dr. Tom Evans
Tom Evans was born in Brazil to missionary parents,
the fourth son of the Rev. Dr. Robert Evans, HR, and the Rev. Dr. Abigail
Evans, currently Professor of Practical Theology at Princeton Seminary.
Evans graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1989. He received
his Masters of Divinity degree from Princeton in 1994 and his DMin from
Princeton in 2004. Since February of 2000, he has been senior pastor at
the Northport Presbyterian Church in Williamsville, New York, a growing
church of 690 members.
Tom’s wife, Wendy, has a Master’s in
Counseling but has spent the majority of her time these last years with
their two children, Matthew, five, and Elizabeth, 14. She joins Tom in
the ministry of the church, sharing her gifts for teaching, including
adult education classes about world religions and children’s worship
at the presbytery level.
Tom enjoys cooking, sports, science fiction and classical
music.
