Janet Hilley Named Interim Editor of Presbyterian Voice

John Hilley, a consultant to non-profit groups, and they have two sons, Aaron, 14, and Sam, 11. The Hilley family worships at Second Presbyterian Church in Nashville. Janet has served on two occasions as interim Associate Pastor at Second Church. Janet and John are members of Middle Tennessee Presbytery. Both are graduates of Princeton Theological Seminary. Janet was ordained a Presbyterian Minister of Word and Sacrament in 1989. She graduated from Furman University in 1985. Janet was executive director of The Covenant Association in Nashville from January 2000 until March 2005. She was a storyteller with Scholastic Book Fair Company in Nashville from 1996 to 2000. In 1995-96, she served as Stated Supply Pastor to Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Nashville. She was Associate Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dubuque, Iowa from 1991-1994. She was interim Associate Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, in New Jersey, from 1989- 91. Janet is currently serving on the personnel committee of Middle Tennessee Presbytery. Janet says: “My leadership style is collaborative because that is the message of the Gospel: Jesus calls us to listen to each other and to act together. While the committee process can be tedious, it is a wonderful tool because it encourages the voice of each person to be heard and it nurtures community.” She also sees that concept as important in the communication mission of the Voice.
