Celebration of Ordination of
Women is at LPTS March 26-27

Wind and Flame:
Women Claiming
Sacred Space is an
event celebrating the ordination
of women, to be held at
Louisville Seminary March 26-
27, 2006. It is sponsored by the
Women’s Center of the seminary,
the Mid-Kentucky Justice for
Women Committee and the
Presbyterian Women of Mid-
Kentucky Presbytery.
Keynote speaker at the
opening celebration dinner will
be Katie Geneva Cannon, whose
address will inaugurate the Katie
Geneva Cannon Lectureship,
which will feature racial ethnic
women scholars. Cannon was
the first African American
woman ordained as a minister in
the United Presbyterian Church
(USA). She is a professor of
Christian Ethics at Union
Theological Seminary in
Virginia.
The event will feature eight
workshops on a variety of topics.
