A thank-you note from Jane

I’ve decided that it’s time to turn the Synod communications effort over to the “Limp Bizkit” generation. They know who they are. If you don’t know who they are, see page 16 for the piece Steve Young wrote titled “It’s a Generational Thing.” I’m both sad and happy about retiring as editor of the Voice and Director of Communications. I’m happy about the fact that Janet Hilley is to be editor of the Voice because I think she’s a very capable person who will become well liked around the Synod. I’m sad about not seeing a lot of people around the Synod who have been a very real part of my life for the past 25 years. I’m confident that the “Limp Bizkit” generation will do a wonderful job in all aspects of the work of the Synod of Living Waters. Most of all, I want to thank all the Voice columnists and other writers, especially the presbytery news page editors, both past and present, who have made the Voice a viable voice among Presbyterians.

Special thanks go to the members of the current synod communications committee and to all of the wonderful committee members who helped to get the Synod effort going and have kept it alive. The Synod executives and presbytery executives with whom I have worked, laughed and sometimes played bridge over the past quarter century, have all been very special people. I would like to say how indebted I am to all the support staff people in the synod and presbytery offices, without whom nothing would ever get done. This is also a time to say thanks to the wonderful people at Franklin Web Printing Company, who have printed the Voice and its predecessor Mid- South Presbyterian from the very first issue in 1981 and continue to provide superior professional service. To everyone who had a part in developing the communications scholarship in my name and for the gift of the car and the plaque and the afghan, I say a heartfelt thank-you. My home address is 5887 Wilshire Drive, Nashville, TN 37215 and I would be glad to hear from anyone who wants to stay in touch. Use this message form to send me an e-mail. One last word: Look out for those “Limp Bizkits.”

Whoever and whatever they are.
