For Jane Hines, upon retiringThoughts on Jane "Interview the applicants and make a recommendation", were the responsibility-laden instructions from the Synods' Communications Committee that lead me to recommend Jane Hines as Editor of a synod newspaper, a decision that proved to be truly providential. Jane's credentials were impressive: trained in journalism with professional work experience in her field, a thorough working knowledge of and love for the Presbyterian Church, a deep personal faith in Jesus Christ, and an innovative and creative mind. In the ensuing years Jane not only lived up to, but exceeded all expectations becoming a respected colleague, a trusted and admired friend, and a loyal member of a warm and caring staff family. Her insight and vision were and continue to be major factors in the development of the VOICE as a powerful instrument in communicating and promoting the mission of the Synod, its Presbyteries and the whole Church. It has been a joyful and satisfying experience to share the years, the friends and colleagues, and the work with such a thoughtful, caring and competent friend. Thanks, Jane for your accomplishments, your caring and for who you are. It was a great run.
