Selmer, Tennessee Church Removes Name
from “Confessing Church” List
The session of First Presbyterian in Selmer, Tennessee has resolved to have its name removed from the list of “Confessing Churches.” The resolution was passed at the meeting on Sunday April 30, 2006, in the hopes of promoting the peace and unity of the church at this critical moment in the history of the Presbyterian Church (USA) prior to the meeting of the General Assembly in June. A letter containing the resolution has been sent to the Presbyterian Lay Committee with signatures of the session moderator, clerk of session and the session members of the congregation. Copies of the resolution were also sent to the clerks of the General Assembly, Synod of Living Waters and the Presbytery of the Mid-South.
