Roxie Gibson still living the impossible dream

by Janet Hilley

In 1971 Roxie Gibson heard a sermon about living the impossible dream. Her own dream was one of writing a book; she had had a desire to write since she was a child. Two weeks after hearing this sermon Roxie awakened at one in the morning, sat down at her kitchen table and wrote, Hey God, Listen! She has been writing, living her impossible dream, ever since.

In addition to a love of writing, Roxie has always had a love of children and felt her calling was to work with children. That first book, and all those after, was written as a child would talk to God. Roxie says her desire was “to help children know that no matter how busy everyone else is, God is never too busy.”

All the books-- among them Hey God, What is Death?, Hey God! Hurry!, and after September 11, Hey God, What is Terrorism? — encourage children to seek God’s will for their own lives. The writing, and seeing the books read widely, has been deeply fulfilling for Roxie.

The books have been her ministry all these years.   “The books touch people and then they, in turn, can touch people,” Gibson comments. She feels this is God’s way of using her in this world.

Gibson’s books are currently in publication with Premium Press America and can be ordered through the publishing house. Their website is www.premiumpressamerica.com.
