


Synod Pays Tribute to Stated Clerk Al FreundtTime was set aside on the docket at the annual Synod meeting to pay tribute to former Stated Clerk Al Freundt. Synod Executive David Snellgrove spoke to the Synod about Dr. Freundt's long and tireless service as Stated Clerk of the Synod of Living Waters and its predecessor Synod of the Mid-South. "Al is respected throughout the church for his knowledge of church history and polity and I admire him for his loyalty to the denomination," Snellgrove said. "He has been present in times and places of church conflict throughout his career and has remained steadfast in his commitment to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)." Before retirement, Al Freundt taught at Reformed Seminary and was previously on the faculty at Belhaven College. He served for many years as Stated Clerk of Mississippi Presbytery. A native of Savannah, Georgia, he graduated from King College and Columbia Theological Seminary. Dr. Freundt has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and is presently under hospice care at his home in Brandon, Mississippi.
